Eroticism and domination abound! , 8 April 2008
By K. J. Beverstock (London)
Frederica Alleyn is definitely one of the best erotic fiction writers ever!. Great story with believable characters, you find yourself completely embroiled in their erotic and passionate sexual escapades. I read it when it was first published and have just bought it again and can't wait to receive it. I would recommend that readers who enjoy this genre check out her other books. S&M lovers will particularly enjoy!

Cassandra's Conflict
created quite a stir when it became one of the first four Black Lace releases in 1993.

Black Lace publisher Kerri Sharp knows all about female fantasies. ...Erotic fiction is still rude, but its history has changed. Once the sole domain of male writers, it is now subsumed by the female imagination, and that imagination is purveying that most manly of concepts - sex without emotion. The Black Lace heroine has sex for the sake of it. Sex without commitment. Sex without babies. Sex on Hampstead Heath.

Sharp...oversaw the first four [Black Lace] books, one of which, Cassandra's Conflict [by Margaret Bingley. writing as Fredrica Alleyn] , ignited a furore that ensured the success of the Black Lace series. The tale featured a sadomasochistic relationship, a dark master, a new nanny and an atmosphere of non-consensuality at a time when it was not clearly understood that the rape fantasy was about being overcome by a man of the mind's choice, rather than an actual desire to be maimed by some thug out of a drain in Hackney.

'There was a lot of humiliation and violation in it,' says Sharp. 'And everyone went mad, saying, "How dare you imply that women want to be hurt during sex" and so on. The Daily Mail accused me of "corrupting the morals of the nation's women and betraying civilised values". The result was that they all sold out within a week.'

About my Authors' Advisory Service
In my advertisements I put that I offer ‘an efficient and friendly service’, which I believe that I do. However, on reflection it’s hard to imagine anyone saying that they offer an inefficient and unfriendly service, so perhaps this should be taken for granted!

What I’m really trying to say is that while I’m honest, and don’t hesitate to point out flaws and weaknesses, I always try to do this in a constructive and encouraging way. This is because I believe that even if you never get published, if you enjoy writing as a hobby then you should be able to get help to enable you to write to the best of your ability.

Of course, most people do want to be published, and my aim there is to help those people achieve their goal.
